Government Motor Transport (GMT) is an entity within the Western Cape Mobility Department, providing fleet management and mobility solutions to diverse client institutions. Our role is to innovate and enable effective fleet solution services to our clients in pursuit of creating a better life for all. To strengthen GMT’s operational and client liaison functions, GMT officials embarked on a number of visits to client institutions to observe the use of its vehicles by these clients “in the field”. This enabled GMT technical officials to better advise clients on the most suitable vehicles for specific purposes.

The Western Cape Emergency Medical Services are some of the most valuable people in our society, responding to accidents and incidents on a daily basis. GMT is a proud provider of the many functions and vehicle equipment needs for them to deliver superior services. Examples of such services include EMS vehicles used for mountain rescue and recovery operations and mobile clinics that are required to navigate poor-quality dirt roads in rural areas etc.

Traffic Safety for the Western Cape
GMT enabled specialised traffic units are a key feature of the Provincial traffic services. They are supported by an interception unit meant to respond to potentially high-risk incidents; a highway patrol as an improved traffic service that is equipped to proactively assist in addressing crime as well as a public transport inspectorate to focus on public transport enforcement.
